An Update From Donnacha The Player Programmer


Heyo!

I'm Donnacha, I'm the programmer in charge of the character! The player has a lot of systems that it keeps track of, the moving, shooting and the entire system of fun chip pick ups to modify how each system works. These systems are all tied to the central nervous system of the mech, the major controller of the player. Without getting too deep in the weeds we can branch out everything from this concept.

Exciting things that this allows us to do is generate any number of scripts that the player's brain calls on them. This allows for the entire system of weapon swaps or leg swaps without the main script ever needing to know it was changed. Makes for a much smoother system that doesn't require too much checking and allows for a lot more creativity once you reach the front end. Allowing us to create systems that really allow the player to mess around with the abilities of the game.
